This policy covers the Easy Route app on iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website, geteasyroute.com. Both are made by BB Tech Systems LLC (“we”, “us”).
The app
What stays on your phone
Client names, addresses, notes, contact details, coordinates and every route you plan are written to storage on your device. They are never sent to us.
Your own device backup
On iPhone and iPad, Easy Route’s data is included in your device’s iCloud backup, the same as other apps’ data, so your client list comes back when that backup is restored onto a new iPhone or iPad. That copy is held by Apple under your Apple Account and your backup settings, not by us. You can stop it in iOS Settings, under iCloud backup, by turning Easy Route off.
On Android, Google’s cloud backup is off for Easy Route, so its data is not in your Google account’s backup. Moving to a new phone by cable or Wi-Fi with Android’s own transfer can still copy the client list across.
Looking up an address
When you ask Easy Route to look up an address, it sends that address, and only the address, not the client’s name, phone number, email or notes, to Apple on iPhone and iPad, or on Android to your phone’s address lookup service, which is Google’s on most phones, so they can say where it is. Their handling of it is covered by Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies. Easy Route never looks an address up unless you ask it to, and it stores what comes back on your device, for you to confirm.
Clients from your contacts
If you import clients from your contacts, Easy Route sees only what you pick in your phone’s own contact picker: on iPhone and iPad the contacts you choose, and on Android the one address you choose, with its contact’s name. It does not ask for access to your contacts and cannot read anyone you did not pick. What you pick is stored on your device as clients, like any other client, and is not sent to us.
Sharing a route
When you share a route, Easy Route passes its text to your phone’s share sheet. For each day, the text has:
- the date and the truck;
- the name of where the day starts and ends, often a yard or your home, and when the truck leaves it and is back, in lines such as “Leaves Yard at 8:00 AM” and “Back at Yard by 4:45 PM”;
- each stop’s name, address and arrival time, with a map link to it;
- “Directions for the day”: map links for the whole day, from where it starts, through every stop, to where it ends.
The links name each place, including where the day starts and ends, by its address, or by its exact location in the cases listed under Directions, below.
When you share the whole week, the text also lists the names of the stops left out of it. If the route is out of date, the text has a note saying why, which can name a client. It never includes a phone number, email or note.
You choose where the text goes, for example Messages or Mail, and that app sends it. Easy Route does not send it anywhere itself.
Directions
When you tap Directions on a stop, Easy Route opens it in a maps app:
- On iPhone and iPad, in Apple Maps or Google Maps, whichever you choose. Apple Maps is given the stop’s name, address and exact location. Google Maps is given the stop’s address.
- On Android, in Google Maps, which is given the stop’s address. If Google Maps isn’t installed, the stop opens in another maps app on your phone, which is given the stop’s name and exact location. Only if there is no maps app at all does it open in your browser.
When you tap Drive the day, Easy Route opens the whole day, from where it starts, through every stop, to where it ends. It opens in Google Maps, or, from iOS and iPadOS 18.4, in Apple Maps if you choose it. Each place is passed by its address, and no names are passed. A long day opens in parts, with a link for each part.
Wherever a place is passed by its address, it is passed as its exact location instead when:
- it has no address;
- its address can’t be sent as it is, because it contains a vertical bar (“|”);
- you entered its location by hand, and it hasn’t moved since the day was planned;
- it is where the day starts and ends, and that place has moved since the day was planned, has been deleted from your clients, or no longer has a location. The location the day was planned from is passed instead.
If the addresses would make a link too long, every place in that link is passed as its exact location instead.
Google Maps and Apple Maps look addresses up on Google’s and Apple’s own servers, so Google and Apple receive what is passed to them, in their apps as well as on the web. Where Google Maps isn’t installed, Drive the day, and Directions on iPhone and iPad, open a Google Maps link in your browser, and Google receives it there. Their handling of it is covered by Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies. Another maps app on Android handles what it is given under its own privacy policy.
Map data
Easy Route downloads map data from tiles.geteasyroute.com so it can measure drive times on roads, and it keeps that map data on your device so planning works offline. These requests cover the area you are planning in. They do not contain your client list or your stops. Like any request an app makes over the internet, they carry the internet address your phone is using and standard request headers: on Android, for example, a header that names the phone’s model and its Android version. Our content delivery provider, Cloudflare, sees them in the ordinary course of serving a file.
What the app does not do
No advertising, no analytics and no tracking: the app contains no code for any of them. We do not sell your data. The app sends an address to Apple or Google when you ask it to look one up. It passes places to a maps app only when you tap Directions, for one stop, or Drive the day, for every stop and where the day starts and ends.
Crash reports from Apple and Google
If you have agreed on your phone to share analytics with app developers, Apple or Google may share crash reports and usage statistics about Easy Route with us.
This website
Hosting
geteasyroute.com is served by Cloudflare. As with any website, your browser’s request for a page includes your internet address and details such as the browser you use, and Cloudflare processes them to deliver the page and to protect the site from abuse, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Visit counts
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies or other storage in your browser, and it does not follow you across other sites. It tells us things like how many people viewed a page and which site sent them.
Cookies
This website’s own code sets no cookies. Cloudflare may set one, a security cookie called __cf_bm, to tell visitors from bots.
If you email us, we receive your email address and your message, and we use them to reply to you.
Your choices
Everything the app holds is on your device, and you can delete it there. Deleting a client removes it from your client list; a route you have already planned keeps its stops until you plan again. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on the device. On iPhone and iPad, also remove Easy Route from your iCloud backup in iOS Settings if you want no copy to remain.
We keep an email you send us only as long as we need it to help you, and we delete it if you ask us to.
Children
Easy Route is a tool for planning work routes, and it is not directed at children.
Changes
If what Easy Route or this website does with data changes, we will change this policy first, and the effective date above with it.
